Understanding Nonprofit Financials - Level 101
Use Financial Statements to Make Strategic Decisions and Deepen Impact
In response to COVID-19, CEN has moved all of our programs online, offering virtual training opportunities that merge fundamental best practices with crisis management resources and opportunities for peer-to-peer connections and support. Additionally, we're offering special discounts and payment plans to make these offerings increasingly accessible during this challenging time (details below).
"This class provided me some more clarity regarding financial reports. Now I hope to no longer sit quietly while the reports are discussed at board meetings."
- Jenny Skoble, Coastside Children's Programs
About the Workshop
Gaining a true understanding of your organization’s financials and making strategic decisions as a result can increase your long term impact, perhaps more than any other leadership skill. In this class we will explore the basic elements of common nonprofit financial statements and will identify tips to better understand what they mean and how they can be used to determine the health of an organization, specifically in times of uncertainty. In addition, we will review basic "financial jargon" and will discuss the nuances of accounting in the nonprofit sector. Participants walk away with an understanding of how they can use this financial information to make timely, strategic decisions.
Intended Audience: Nonprofit executives, board members, senior staff, and emerging leaders.
