Getting the Most out of your Board



According to BoardSource, “the partnership between the board and the executive leader is critically important to the success of an organization.”  Building – and managing – this partnership is easier said than done! In this workshop, we will look at ways you can effectively “manage up” to build stronger relationships, engage each member, and move your full board toward excellence. Participants will leave with a strong understanding of board management best practices and a basic plan to work more effectively with board members, leveraging key talent for maximum impact.

Intended Audience: Nonprofit Executive Directors and Key Staff


  • Improve your recruiting and on-boarding process to set the expectation for a high performing board
  • Create engagement plans and check-in’s to make sure performance is on track
  • Look at how to implement best practices that will help each board member reach their full potential
